The Wellsboro Pipe Band was established in 2025 to promote and preserve the tradition of Highland piping while serving the Wellsboro community through performances and education.
The band was founded by Scot Walker, Jessie Thompson, and Tim Swan. Walker is a fourth-generation piper with a distinguished career as a solo competitor, teacher, and adjudicator in both the United States and abroad. Thompson began piping at age 14 and has since performed with a number of bands, including the Lehigh Valley Pipe Band and the Ulster Scottish Pipe Band, performing both at home and abroad.
Swan, a third-generation piper, was inspired by the legacy of his grandfather and great-grandfather to take up the instrument. He performs extensively as a soloist both locally and beyond, and has played with East Coast bands including the Caledonian Highlanders and the Penn York Highlanders.
The band's mission is to teach and promote the art of bagpiping while delivering captivating performances at parades and public events. Join us as we celebrate this rich tradition and share our passion for bagpipes with the community!
