The Wellsboro Pipe Band is a teaching organization devoted to promoting the music of the Great Highland Bagpipe. We are always looking for new members of all skill levels from absolute beginners to experienced players.
New bagpipe students typically spend a few months learning on a practice chanter before attempting to play a full set of bagpipes. A practice chanter (a small recorder type instrument) is much smaller and quieter than a full set of pipes allowing for easier learning of finger positioning and technique. Even after transitioning to a full set of pipes, a piper will use the practice chanter to learn new tunes and techniques throughout their piping career.
We welcome you to come join us at one of our practice sessions to learn more about getting started as a piper and becoming a member of our band. Practice sessions are every Thursday, at 6:00PM at the Ossea Masonic Lodge in Wellsboro. MAP
